There is nothing worst in the internet marketing business then not ranking high without understanding why that is happening. You are throwing many back links at your site, and nothing seems to just get you where you need to go. It might happen that you get lucky for a week or two, but then your web pages flow down in the search engines faster than the speeding bullet. It has been proven already by many SEO specialists that even though three people start up the same type of website and put the same amount of effort into it, the results are all different. There is not a sure way for anyone to make each site successful, but after a certain amount of time and experience it does get a bit easier. You will be able to predict with a certain amount of conviction that the next project will succeed. With that said, the main reason that sites fail is due to the owners not doing as much research before hand and then after the launch as they should have. There are enough programs and even free ways of doing it that it is unacceptable and foolish to just jump in without evaluating your chances. There are niches which are almost impossible to break into, and others that only take a few weeks. Some of them have the same amount of traffic and wealth, but they differ in competition. 1
You should really look at the top ten competitors carefully and see whether you can beat them. This will give you the amount of work and time that it will take to start making money yourself. You can see where they are getting their back links, how strong they are, and how old they are as well. These are all very important factors as a new site is quite fragile and needs time to grow in rank and size. Realize, that you will not only have to worry about the top ten guys, but also about other people similar to you that might enter at any time and try to take you down and land on the first page as well. This should not worry you as much if you really evaluate your risk and make sure that your sites are very pleasing to the search engines and have quality work on them.
