The smoke created by fog machines look like real fog, but with a difference. Real fog cannot be controlled, so you cannot depend on real fog if you want to create a creepy ambiance. Fog from a fog machine has the tendency to stay put, as long as the machine is configured well.
Any home can present a foggy, creepy ambiance during Halloween using a good fog machine. There are many brands to choose from, each with its pros and cons. Here are some of them.
American DJ – The Fog Storm 1200 HD model gives a good output. The fog billows, giving the impression that you’re walking on clouds. If the fog juice is lower than normal, the auto-shut off kicks in. There is also a timer that can help you set the hour when the fog is thickest.
Eliminator – The EF-400 model is ideal for small scale fog production. In a play, you can use this to simulate a river scene, a volcano or a small lake. If you have a bigger stage, this may not be the best for you. You can still get a thick fog but you will have to use another unit to supplement the first. You just have to plan the way you will position the fog machines.
Chauvet – The Hurricane 700 model is lightweight and ideal for scenes where you want a constant haze over the production or the home. The fog produced is thin and hazy, but not billowy.
