Computer-aided design (CAD) system is a combination of hardware and software that assist engineers, architects and other design professionals in their design activities.
Areas of use
In almost all engineering based industries like Fashion Design, Architecture Engineering and Construction, Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, Consumer Good, Machinery, Ship Building and construction CAD is used.
CAD aids civil engineers and architects in a variety of ways in architectural, electrical, structural, and interior designs.
Now we are going to discuss some areas where cad engineering is using:-
In Architecture
Computer-aided drafting refers to the technical drawing component of the project that uses a computer rather than a traditional drawing board. Engineers use the CAD software to set all the relevant components together to produce drawings and specifications .Cad software can estimate quantities of materials determine the cost of the project and ultimately provide the detailed drawings necessary to build it.
Computer-aided drafting software is a basic tool that is used in other disciplines related to Architecture, for example Civil Engineering, for site design, for instance roads, grading and drainage, in mapping and cartography, in the production of plans and sketches for a variety of other purposes.
In Mechanical engineering
CAD is used in a variety of ways in mechanical engineering based companies. From creating engineering drawings to 3D modeling, CAD is used in most of the manufacturing process. 3D modeling and pro-engineering packages allow engineering companies to design products or components for machinery. The entire process saves time and money and ensures precision and accuracy. Electrical and electronic engineering industries use CAD for things like PCB designs and wiring layout designs. CAD is also used to design the overall layout of a manufacturing unit.
In Electrical and electronic Field
Electronic design automation includes PCB design, intelligent wiring diagrams and component connection management where Cad engineering is very often used.
In Manufacturing process Development
2D and 3D CAD systems are used for plant layout although now this is often done with real-time process simulation tools.
There are also other areas where the usages of cad engineering are increasing.
CAD engineering is generally used to design and develop products across most stages of the manufacturing process. It is the use of a wide range of computer-based tools that enables engineers and architects to design everything from furniture to airplanes. It is very useful for small and even mid-size firms who use CAD engineering against large firms for competitive purposes.
CAD has revolutionized the entire engineering process. It enables to produce quicker product, as a result we see more and more new products arrive in the market every day. CAD engineering makes possible the advent of robotics into the manufacturing sector for increased accuracy and production.
